Ireland so many plans for mental health; 20 years ago it was the publication “A Vision for Change”. Everything falters. If you have private health care and then can’t afford it what do you do or those who can do something for you but who do not have your permission. Too many cases of psychotic episodes and familicide in Ireland. A solicitor left his firm of well known solicitors and by the end of the evening his father was murdered. Insanity will see him enter the Central Mental hospital. This does not have to be the case. Medications work but are not pleasant. You can call the Gardai but their hands are tied; the doctor is not enthusiastic about making a decision. Provision in the public community services is surrounded by bureaucracy and red tape.
