The proposal, championed by Vice President JD Vance, has sparked an unusual debate among conservatives. Michael Smerconish speaks with Professor Jenet Erickson, who co-wrote a 2021 Wall Street Journal essay on child care with Vance, about the case for supporting parents who care for their own children at home, the research behind that argument, and concerns that expanding eligibility could leave working and single parents competing for the same federal dollars.
