Brian Rosenberg is the former President of prestigious Macalester College and Visiting Professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He is also the Director and Senior Advisor at African Leadership University (ALU) and the author of “Whatever It Is, I’m Against It: Resistance to Change in Higher Education”. We discuss how AI is reshaping higher education, whether a university degree still has value, and why colleges are so resistant to change. We also talk about grades, experiential learning, tenure, research/teaching tension, new models of universities built around missions rather than traditional majors, and how governance and incentives shape decision-making.
