NEWS: X says it caught a Chinese bot farm of about 200,000 accounts. X’s Safety team said the network was tied to suspected Chinese influence operations. Inside it, 200 accounts were posting to sway the US debate over AI and energy policy. Those posts claimed AI data centers are driving up household electricity bills and straining the grid. Some used AI-generated cartoons showing data-center operators getting rich at the public’s expense. This lines up with OpenAI, which recently banned China-linked accounts running the same playbook, cartoons and all, to stoke fear over US data center energy costs.
