Mental Illness: Brent Hope a number of years back was involved in a project to do with “Outsider Art”. I attended the exhibition and all I can say is if only I had the courage I ought to have bought paintings that appealed to me. Outsider Art sadly is not known about in Ireland, most likely Stigma and Shame bury it. X (formerly Twitter) introduced me to this site and I share it with people who are interested. We need to seek out those artists who have mental illness as was done several years ago and breathe some air into the lungs of those plagued with deep dark depression. Boris Johnson’s mum was confined to the Maudsley (public psychiatric hospital in London) on occasions; her paintings are worth looking up.
