Shane O’Mara, Neuroscientist, Trinity College Dublin: Review of his latest book “Talking Heads”. Broca’s explored … makes total sense to me, having had a consultant and team state Brocas as part of their diagnosis, long ago now. I live in a kind of permanent present. I had not heard about Carl Sagan’s essay on Brocas, but will read it.
Sunday Brendan O’Connor radio interview with Shane O’Mara. Before I read his book, I will pursue a journey on my WordPress which acts as my consolidated memories over time. Broca’s Aphasia Broca’s aphasia is primarily an expressive language impairment, meaning it mostly … Continue reading

What AI Teaches Us About Good Writing. NOEMA. (Listening to Newstalk radio ChatGPT and AI. Already 2 law firms and 2 accountancy firms in Dublin have had their staff trained and it is in use). Written by me about mental illness in 2003. One can only be disheartened by the neglect in Health Services to provide an adequate system of mental illness provision. CAMHS (Children and Mental Health Services) is an indictment on all progress made in decades through research, psychiatry, addiction services, homeless services, the engagement with the educational components of the internet and social social media. Now nobody wants to be a psychiatrist, there is no mission, no passion. What will happen to the young people who are yet to be diagnosed with mental health that will have its roots in the impact of COVID-19? Shame on the Government, the Stigma, the fact that there are too many charities and not enough services from HSE linked to vocational training and learning coping mechanisms. This article was published (Fergal Bowers approved) on Irishhealth.com in 2003. Minister Butler, the MHC, why have you failed our people who have mental illness? For me I escaped the “net” so I am a survivor willing to assist others.

Abuse of children in care as organised by Tusla is deemed by so many people as “not fit for purpose”. Ireland is a small country but Google has extended our scope way beyond what would have been possible pre Google. This is 2017 but relevant now especially in the trauma years since 2019, COVID-19, Ukraine war and now Artificial Intelligence at a speed beyond interpretation. Ethics is required but in the meantime it can be feared; some say it could have demonic outcomes. Recommend this for inspiration: 2017 Charlie Rose “Childhood Adversity”. Urgent attention is needed to protect children now, standing on the shoulders of giants should be one of the first steps. Significance of “Resilience” which has a genetic source too. Hence major difference in two children in the same family.

Law Society Gazette: No common definition of ‘parental alienation’ – paper. Personal comment: It is time we call it out. Divorce is legal and children can be vulnerable. Blame Blame Blame can make the child the silent and often distraught young counsellor to parents who even hate each other. ‘Parental Alienation’ – Sometimes we need very strong words to convey a message to parents. Be careful; do not play with your children’s mental health, the implications can last a life time for some children who must enter adulthood.
