Ireland has zero gas storage capacity. And that’s despite being unusually reliant on gas in the national energy mix (both electricity generation and domestic/industrial use). No Plan B either. There is no capacity to import Liquified Natural Gas. Energy security should be the government’s most urgent priority. It would be most embarrassing if the lights were to go out when all of Europe’s democratic leaders visit Dublin for the European Political Community summit in November.
