The Rape Gang Inquiry documents how police treated the victims. Fiona’s case is one of the worst. When Fiona’s mother reported her missing and named her abusers, the call handler told her: “You can’t describe them as Asian men because that’s racist. You should just be glad your child is being taught a different culture.” And it gets worse. The report says a police officer once returned Fiona to the house where the abuse was happening and told the men to “have fun with her.” On another occasion, it says police told the abusers that if they could get Fiona to sign herself out of care, they’d stop bothering them.
