Iran navy commander says ‘Persian Gulf Dolphins’ submarines deployed for long-term operations in the Strait of Hormuz Iranian Navy Commander Shahram Irani said Iran’s light submarines are operating in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz in line with current threats and operational requirements. He said the submarines are capable of remaining stationed on the seabed for extended periods to strengthen Iran’s presence in the strategic waterway and confront hostile vessels. Irani added that the submarines, known as the “Persian Gulf Dolphins,” carried out tactical maneuvers during the war and have since returned to deeper waters to continue their mission.
