Dr Tom Clonan speaks out in the Senate. He is a constant and dedicated advocate for people with disabilities. This case he speaks of a person who was in care and sexually assaulted. The reaction of our HSE, Politicians, Doctors, Nurses is that they have learned nothing from the tribunals of abuse of people in care of the State and continue with verbiage and elongated answers having no sense or meaning. Tom Speaks for 10 minutes. Marginalised people be they homeless, have serious disabilities, have mental illness, intellectual deficits, have no rights when it comes to having the course to say they have been taken advantage of … yes, sexually abused, assaulted, raped. Note the absence of people in the Senate, this would not have been the case in the 1920’s and 1930’s when we were just a fledgling state trying to create a moral order.
