Harvard Health Publishing: Agoraphobia: Has COVID fueled this anxiety disorder? Written May 2021. Comment 1970’s I first experienced this; I mitched school most of the time … the symptoms below, now tell me what my problem was. There is a secrecy involved in this kind of anxiety. Throughout the later decades, there was always an underlying anxiety but it returned with traumatic life events. Covid19 has had an impact but it is not a severe as in my teen years. Highly recommend cognitive behavioural therapy; medications when necessary and bibliotherapy has been a great benefit to me personally.

Casey, his nephew Donovan, shared a deviance, abuse of innocent children, the former abuse of a vulnerable woman who had his child, he was 22 years her senior. Casey glibly went to London and engaged in sex contrary to a rule of the Church he evidently paid no heed to. To me last night’s RTE programme portrayed a psychopath, an abuser of his niece and other vulnerable children, and the enablers, the Church, the Vatican and so many more. No reference was made to his missionary work in South America, were there children abused or was his sex addiction provided for at whose expense? Since 1994 when a most Courageous nun, Medical Missionaries of Mary, exposed what was happening to nuns on the missions at the behest of priests. We know but we are shamefully in denial. The clergy surely know what is said in the bible about the abuse of children…basically nothing can be done with sexual abusers so throw them in the water. Worth checking the details on this. Too many abusers around. Dictionary of Biography thankfully have acknowledged the tenacity, truth seeking mission of Sr Maura O’Donohue. Remove Casey’s body from its resting place within the Cathedral and bury him in a simple grave. Humility would be served by doing this.

The Guards: Series following the Guards in the dark and complex world of organised crime, as Ireland’s criminal networks reach unprecedented levels of escalation…. this was 2019 but all we know is that the crisis is worse, not alone addiction, mental illness, crime, now we face a right wing movement augmenting the role of An Gardai to definite crisis level for their sanity to work as The Guardians of the People. Time to educate ourselves to the drug crisis that has taken over. Having just read the Myth of being Normal by Gabor Mate, and also having listened/watched endlessly to his talks about trauma, I would ask people to show more compassion to An Gardai, to start by watching “The Guards” and empathise, show more compassion, and humility with the role they have. I would then ask people to listen to Dr Gabor Mate’s 2010 TEDx Talk on “Addiction”(link below). Now we can call out addiction to drugs, to shopping, to porn which is destroying the lives of very young people. Please care and share. Talk was 2012 – The Guards 2019; it is now July 2024.
