Budget 2023/24 Ireland. Paucity of contributions to our HSE which is in dire need of a massive injection of funds; but Minister Stephen Donnelly was left virtually empty handed with an electorate demanding a better health service. This article is from Nature. Maybe it is time for a volcano to erupt for all systems of health based on historic bureaucratic models. Smartphones … whoever thought by 2020’s so many people would have access to them and how life changed as a result of their use. See what can happen here with AI? Maybe it is time for medicine faculty to include Computer Science target AI

…”But all this talk of questionnaires and self-reports brings us to the age-old question: How do we know that aphantasia really exists, as opposed to being a form of psychological denial or simply a different interpretation of the same inner experience?…” Can someone answer what about traumatic brain injury impact? I can’t visualise, spatial is a problem, imagination – “permanent present”… cannot relax without something to capture my attention and therefore sleep is a great source of comfort. I have a sliver if I can relate to what I would have visualised in my childhood, work ie pre-accident….again TBI equates to a more aggressive ” “Severely Deficient Autobiographical Memory,” or SDAM for short. People with SDAM lack the ability to relive past experiences in their minds.” Question: can anyone do these fMRI tests in Ireland? In the now knowing you feel secure but once you move to something different – there is a black abyss with the added factor you don’t remember. Source: NAUTILUD

Paddy, I saw you walking last night approaching 10 pm. You were alone in your thoughts and you must have been reeling from the coverage in the Irish media that we so love in Ireland, with every interpretation spun but at the end of the day, it is the old adage, kick a man when he is down. I hope this article has the brevity and being Israeli (AFP and Times of Israel) coverage, maybe we can level the playing field with a degree of equity. We all know about Tweets and the heat of the moment. We are warned constantly. You set up the Web Summit, Ireland through some kind of dose of the little green monster jealously, lost it to Portugal. Remain stoic Paddy Cosgrave. Tweets should not destroy a career of an innovator to action and mass success. To people who have Netflix, I would ask you to watch Gaza, the children, the bombings and this is after the armed engagements ending 2014. Shame on the world who have closed their eyes to the children of Gaza.

The Crimean Journals of the Sisters of Mercy by Professor Pierce Grace 20th October 2023. (Ukrainians are entering Ireland as refugees from war caused by invasion of the Russian Federation 24th February 2022) but Ireland, albeit as part of the British Empire, was involved in the Crimean War in the 1800’s. Hence I add it is such a shame to see a hospital that trained doctors and nurses, Royal City of Dublin hospital, often referred to as Baggot Street hospital, cast to the four winds with no direction to credit it, even as a medical museum with a focus on say neuro-psychiatry) – comment from canisgallicus.com search other articles mental health, suicide, traumatic brain injury, anxiety, Trinity Horizon programme ie research.

World Mental Health Day: 10th October 2023. I have listened to many people speak about mental illness but I have to say this man, U.S. Surgeon General, Dr Vivek Murthy’s interview by the Cleveland Clinic is worth engaging with. Too many people are suffering and children too. Personally I recommend bibliotherapy and listening to people who have experience with mental illness, but this can only happen after professional care has led you to the place of discovery. Please pass this on, we must not forget mental illness on this day 10th October 2023. Dr Murthy talks about “Health Equity” being a problem in the US but the same is true in Ireland; we pay half the amount to mental illness by comparison to other countries and we have a significant shortage of psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses and we have scandals coming down the track too. Suicide … we hear too little but the truth is we know in the enclaves of stigma, details remain hidden because of shame and genetics. Please take a few moments to listen TEDMED “Why doctors kill themselves”. By a daughter of doctors and a caring doctor herself. BBC report about vets and suicide. Shocking reading. All creatures great and small like Dr Finlay’s casebook romanticised the realities of being a rural doctor or vet
