Highly Sensitive People “HSP’s” and narcissism. Dr Ramani. Time to look at temperament. Important short piece … Elaine Aron, HSP and children. Quotation:
“Finally, being sensitive to the discomfort, disapproval, or anger of others probably made u quick to follow every rule as perfectly as possible, afraid to make a mistake.” Elaine N. Aron, The Highly Sensitive Person. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9rD2xKQQpSvaNU1HNnQCfw/videos

Basic life lesson: Narcissism. “Everything goes back to childhood theory”. There is the Predator and the Prey. Beware the Predator always can identify the Prey.

“Call from the Wild”. Elephant in the room. Thank you Charlie Bird for X tweet. Mental illness … too often in our city you see people begging, sleeping rough, or just you know that they are witnesses to the lives of others, those lives that appear to be “normal”. 4,500 children (CAMHS) are on waiting lists while there is a shortage of psychiatrists, psychologists, mental health nurses and others. This is a shocking indictment on our health system especially when we know only 5% of the budget, whereas in EU it is 10%+ is provided for mental illness. I have included a link about childhood and depression/stress/anxiety. Dr Gabriel Mate. We live in troubled times, the trauma associated with COVID-19; the war in Ukraine, and then Climate Change. Please support Elephant in the Room, details below, by sharing this with others.

MC Hammer I do not know you but thank you. TBI 30+ years ago so amnesia obliterates memories. Personally over time I have dallied with idea that maybe obliteration of memories, like rain upon a window pane, may not be too much of a disadvantage. Thankfully we have technology and like slotting into an opening we can engage virtually. Dr Tomas Ryan and your team and Trinity College Dublin where I once was part of a one year research programme funded by Horizon and then entered as a student of BESS. I completed all exams etc except the final so I have no degree but Trinity College Dublin gave me the reins to plug on living within each day. 8 years and no degree but an allegiance and belief in it as an exceptional University. From my postings on canisgallicus you can share part of my journey and also via Twitter now X.

What changes in Ireland? Nothing. Homelessness, suicide, depression, 5% allocation to mental illness when it should 10% min. Somehow this article written by me has re-appeared. It is proof that if anything, the plight of people with the added trauma of post COVID-19 and the impact of refugees coming to Ireland from Ukraine has ensured little progress has occurred but the demands are increased.
Dear Ms Clarke Thank you for your comments below which I have sent to the relevant Department for noting. Gold mining in Wicklow, Comyn and Briscoe, under investigation. 1930’s adventurers in a new soon to be Republic. Somebody mentioned the gold which I recall being mentioned when I was a child. There was supposed to be very little, enough for a wedding ring, which mum wore!!! This could be a “tall story”. The other feint recall tells me that gold was so insignificant that what was found was given to the Church to make chalices but again this is pure conjecture. Before reading the Dail committee reports, the article written in the Independent is worth reading and there is also a link from Wicklow heritage … back to 1795

Intergenerational child sexual abuse: Dr Ramani interview. Too often we hear about cases of child sexual abuse in Ireland; there are women and men who have bravely pressed criminal charges against the perpetrator(s). This youtube interview is not about engagement with a person who confides in you but to help them to follow the professional channels, it is to encourage people to come forward. The Church, the Christian Brothers, Fathers, Grandfathers, Brothers, Sisters, People who abuse power they have, being in positions of supreme control in the medical profession, teaching, sports, swimming coaches and the list goes on. People need to watch/listen to this. Do not Judge. Act. Thank you for your courage Kimberly Shannon Murphy, your bravery will give power to people who have been abused. Your “purpose is to help people” your words … again thank you.

All About Bibliotherapy. Psychiatric especially relating to the scandals in CAMHS, the shortage of psychiatrists, public or private and the lack of commitment by our Health Service to allocate funds equivalent to those granted in other countries, to psychiatric services. Meantime if people are in need, there are services through the internet. Personal experience has created a resource through bibliotherapy, collecting quotes, writing. This article is an interesting start. Quote from this article: “Also known as book therapy, bibliotherapy was discussed as a psychodynamic model in the 1950s by Caroline Shrodes.”
